Public Domain Status[edit]

In regards to statement made by user NE2 about image going into public domain:

This logo was first published in the first edition of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada in 1959. It will fall out of copyright in approximately 2009 (see Template:PD-Canada). This exact image representation was made by commons:User:Makaristos and released into the public domain.

Crown copyright is 50 years from the end of the calander year. So this image won't be public domain till January 1, 2010.

“12. Without prejudice to any rights or privileges of the Crown, where any work is, or has been, prepared or published by or under the direction or control of Her Majesty or any government department, the copyright in the work shall, subject to any agreement with the author, belong to Her Majesty and in that case shall continue for the remainder of the calendar year of the first publication of the work and for a period of fifty years following the end of that calendar year. [S.C. 1993, c. 44, s. 60(1)]”

If anyone needs to see the publication mentioned, I found it in with Canadian national catalogue under AMICUS No. 13204417.

Now if anyone can find a 1958 version, then we can move this image to PD status. --Svgalbertian (talk) 05:41, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
