Those articles might need to be deleted or merged into larger topic lists as well. Wikipedia has a lot of "newscruft" where there are articles about random news stories that aren't historically significant. An article about an event needs prolonged coverage after the story has stopped developing (usually months or years later), or it needs to meet the other criteria listed at WP:EVENTCRIT (which usually requires the event to affect entire populations in some way). I hate to break it to you Evergreen but this event does appear to meet all notability requirements. You can nominate it as often as you want to but there is enough significant and sustained national and international coverage for this event to refute any future nominations.
