Hoax alert[edit]

This article does not pass the smell test.

Much of the prose, and the winners table, appears at the cited webpage for the tournament, https://gudrunarbikarinn.my.canva.site/, whose URL does not inspire confidence.

The name means "Guðrún('s) Cup". A golf event by that name appears to have been played in 2017 and 2019 (pdfs of annual reports of Golfklúbbar Kópavogs og Garðabæjar), but those are both mere line listings with dates.

The remainder of hits online appear to be almost all for two different annual awards by the same name:

  • An award instituted in 2000 in memory of Guðrún Pálsdóttir, for the woman having rendered the greatest service to sports for the disabled (e.g.: 2003, 2007)
  • An award to a schoolchild for the best contribution in the innovation portion of the national curriculum, instituted in memopry of Guðrún Þórsdóttir, one of the originators of innovation education (e.g.: 2010, 2016)

The exception I noticed appears to be one for women swimmers: 2005)

It's suspicious that there are separate lists of winners and contributors to the tournament. Googling some of the names should have shaken loose evidence of golfing, but it didn't. Birgir Rúnar Halldórsson appears to be a fighter. Snorri Hannesson appears to be a basketballer; and the draft is the only Wikipedia work of SnorriHannesson.
