The lagomorphs (/ˈlæɡəmɔːrf/) are the members of the taxonomic orderLagomorpha, of which there are two living families: the Leporidae (rabbits and hares) and the Ochotonidae (pikas). There are 110 recent species of lagomorph of which 109 are extant, including 10 genera of rabbits (42 species), 1 genus of hare (33 species) and 1 genus of pika (34 species). Rabbits and hares in art have variable mythological and artistic meanings in different cultures. The hare is often associated with moon deities and signifies rebirth and resurrection. It is a symbol of fertility and sensuality, and appears in depictions of hunting and spring scenes in the Labours of the Months. Holland Lops are a breed of rabbit originating in the Netherlands. The breed was recognized by the Netherlands' Governing Rabbit Council in 1964 and the American Rabbit Breeders' Association in 1979. They are popular house pets, known for their sweet temperament and non-aggressive behavior. The breed ties as the smallest breed of the lop-eared rabbits with the American Fuzzy Lop with an ideal weight of 3.0 - 4.0 lbs (1.6 kg) for showing in American Rabbit Breeders' Association sanctioned shows. The most common fur colors are tortoise shell, broken tortoise shell, broken black and black, broken orange, and white.
The Stanford bunny is a 1994 computer graphics 3-D test model developed by Greg Turk and Marc Levoy at Stanford University. A ceramic figurine of a rabbit was scanned in 3-D to create a model with 69,451 polygons which is considered low-resolution by today's standards. The model can be used to test various graphics algorithms such as polygonal simplification, compression, and surface smoothing.
