Order of "Other diocesan bishops"[edit]

Why is the the Bishop of Bristol at 27? Her confirmation of election date would make her the most junior diocesan bishop. Surely the Lords Spiritual (Women) Act 2015 only applies to who takes the next seat in the Lords and not to the seniority of the other diocesan bishops? Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 13:23, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Because they are ordered by their proximity to that next seat in the Lords... Which is Viv's when it comes. DBD 16:23, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That criterion isn't stated anywhere in the article, and is inconsistent with Lambeth's position at the top of that table, although he is ineligible to ever become a Lord in that position. I'd prefer to keep the "Other diocesan bishops" ordered strictly by seniority, in line with the positioning of Lambeth and Sodor and Man. It's enough to have the footnote for female bishops that they will be accelerated. --141.100.201.16 (talk) 15:42, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Plymouth - looks as if he's retired early and a new bishop has been appointed[edit]

This came as a surprise:

This clarifies the situation - he has been appointed and will be consecrated as a bishop in September. Mdrb55 (talk) 11:27, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Peterborough?[edit]

It seems Peterborough has disappeared from the list at Bishop Allister's retirement. Jaybirdca (talk) 20:21, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Consecrators[edit]

Would it be useful to list the consecrators of each of the bishops? Marnanel (talk) 20:13, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Other bishops[edit]

Currently, this section says it contains 'people in active ministry....in the Church of England who are in episcopal orders but not in episcopal posts in the Church of England'. However, +Gillon is described as an Associate Bishop for the Arts, and +Bailey-Wells as Bishop for Episcopal Ministry. Surely these are episcopal posts? They're not diocesans or suffragans obviously, but I imagine it was intended that (at least potentially) their roles would involve some functions that only a bishop can perform, otherwise their titles wouldn't be 'bishop for' but something like 'advisor for', 'lead for' etc. Perhaps the lead should be changed to '....not in diocesan or suffragan posts'?217.155.59.206 (talk) 13:41, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Meanwhile, +Ball has now become diocesan bishop of North Africa. I'm not certain, but this might mean his removal from the list, as presumably this is a full-time post and might require him to reside in the diocese. Does anyone know more?217.155.59.206 (talk) 13:41, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lastly, does anyone know who is acting as bishop of Sodor and Man during the vacancy there? 217.155.59.206 (talk) 13:41, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
