All right[edit]

When did the USS Sargo attacked happened? I checked all of them and all of them pretty much said March 4. One said that one day out of fremantle pretty much means that it took plaec in March 4. Does anybody have some source that February 25 was the day that attacked happened? i know it took 9 days but when that attacked actually happened? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JamesHawks (talkcontribs) 03:10, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To begin with, "checked them all"? All which? Name one source. Then maybe somebody (you, even) can add it as an actual citation.
In the second place, Blair's account (pp174 & 185) would put Sargo one day out on the 22d or 23d, assuming transit time back is the same (i.e., 9 days each way), so 25 Feb is in line, while 4 March is way late. It would appear this was after she returned to Oz (Freemantle?). This page has Snapper departing 6 March; this page has Stingray arriving 3 March; this page has Sturgeon departing Surabajya 20 Feb; & this page has Seadragon reaching Freemantle 4 March. Unfortunately, Blair's no help with the dates of arrival of any of them. He does say they were "made ready for immediate patrol", but that doesn't square a 4 March date with the "31 passengers". I'd suggest "all the sources" are wrong, or the claim of an attack on Sargo is mistaken; since there were so many mistaken attacks on friendly subs, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was another boat.
