A strong argument from authority might quote a respected expert, for example:

...all discussions about what we as a community should do should be grounded in verifiable facts. --Jimbo Wales



(the implication being: an argument based on a Wikipedian's personal authority has very little value, while a verifiable third-party authority's opinion would count for a lot more)
