You've been very helpful with your suggestions in the past. First, a big thank you! Second, I have a citation and referencing question that's been tough to answer. Any thoughts?
In the body of my Wikipedia page draft I say that a person has won numerous awards. This comment refers to an entire later section titled Recent Awards and not to just one award in its list. How do I do this in Wikipedia? In both Word and Acrobat one would first create a target, like the words "Recent Awards," and then create a hyperlink earlier in the document to the target. Is this allowable in Wikipedia?

How to create references[edit]

Dear @Co1umbus:

I came across your account and your draft by the teahouse. Your draft looks quite good in that it has suitable references. However, it would come closer to acceptance if you improve the format you use to cite references.

Right now, I see that you are using a format like '''<sup>[17]</sup>'''. This is not a useful format. For the in-text citation, please use <ref> YOUR_SOURCE </ref>.

For example, one of your sources would look like <ref>{{Cite book |last=Fletcher2 |first=S. |title=The SAGE handbook of mentoring and coaching in education |last2=Mullen |first2=C. A. |publisher=[[Sage]] |year=2012 |isbn=0857027530}}</ref>. If I put it in this text, it would look like this.[1]

Referencing is a fine art. I encourage you to read Wikipedia:Citing sources. Another good way to learn references is to look at the source code of some good articles and some feature articles on similar subjects (in your case, it is professors, educators, and scientists). Have a look at Albert Einstein.

Let me try to go through your response.
  • In the body of my Wikipedia page draft I say that a person has won numerous awards. I don't see where you say that the person "has won numerous awards" in the draft. Please kindly provide a quote.
  • an entire later section titled Recent Awards The "recent awards" section you mentioned is under the "references" section. If you intend to use them as references, please write some prose in the body of the article and use reference templates to cite these links. Consider the following format:
At [TIME], [NAME] has won [AWARD] for [FACT]... [2]
If you do not intend to use these awards as references, please do not put them under the "references" section. The "references" section should display only the footnotes or the sources you refer to.
I encourage you to apply proper in-text citation in my previous comment. I see that you have used some {{cite book}} parameters. However, note well that these <ref> are in-text citations, meaning that these refs go into the body of the text, not in the reference section.
This is a complex issue and I see that you are making a bit of progress. Have you looked into how the Albert Einstein article cites its sources? Please also read WP:INCITE on how to use <ref> and the named references feature.
