Hello. I'm Aloha27 and I AGF reverted your edit as it just simply put, did not read well. If you'd like to expand your version to read something like "fraudster" I believe that would be the better option. Have a good day.   Aloha27  talk  19:49, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

Help

What does re-listing an AfDD do, and how can I re-list one? Thanks! // 💪Benzo💪 (Send me a message!) 08:05, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

You're asking about WP:Articles for deletion, correct?
Relisting is an action taken by an editor when the normal time for a discussion has elapsed (usually 7 days) and the editor feels more discussion is needed to try to obtain a consensus.
If you want to perform this action yourself, and you are not the nominator, you can find out more about how to do it at WP:Deletion process#Relisting discussions. There are quite a few editors who handle relisting routinely, so there should be no need for you to do it unless you wish to join their number. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 08:36, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Automatic purge

Hello, Is there a way to automatically purge my page every minute? I have a userbox that relies on purging to update (a clock). That is why I was wondering if there is a way to automatically purge a page every so often. Thanks! // 💪Benzo💪 (Send me a message!) (Here's what I've contributed.) 14:12, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

No. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 14:49, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Shannon Town

Please stop undoing my edits. The company list is outdated. EI Electronics is based in Shannon for more than 40 years, is indigenously owned and employs more than 1000 people. Zimmer Biomet has had a facility in the town since 2008 and employs more than 500 people. Both are highly valued contributors to the towns community. Unfortunately Molex and Avocent are now gone but thankfully new companies are moving to the town. I quick Google will confirm all of this. MuddleBug (talk) 23:22, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

The source should be updated before you add or remove any information. I'll try to update it, but thanks for letting me know. // 💪Benzo💪 (Talk!) 07:31, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

How to add a copyright tag?

Hello, I uploaded an image of the Eirjet logo, but it was put on speedy deletion because it lacked a copyright tag. How do I add one? // 💪Benzo💪 (Talk!) 09:06, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

It looks like you sorted this out shortly after posting here. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 09:41, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

Eugeniusz Olszyna

I appreciate your taking on the thankless task of closing a difficult AFD discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eugeniusz Olszyna (2nd nomination). However I have some concern your close may come off as a WP:SUPERVOTE. Language in your close: it seems like there are enough sources for the subject to pass GNG and SIGCOV, makes it seem more like an intention to vote “keep” than to close it that way. I believe the decision is correct and am not requesting you reconsider your close, though you may wish to familiarize yourself more with the closing process before performing NACs on other somewhat contentious AFD debates or leave them to an admin with more experience (though this is NOT a requirement - any uninvolved user in good standing can close any AFD). Also a word of warning that one of the “delete” voters in this AFD has a tendency of harassing closers who do not agree with them. Frank Anchor 15:13, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

Oh, thank you for telling me. Thank you for the warning as well; I'll keep this all in mind. I see that my close seems like a WP:SUPERVOTE because of the nature of the message. I'll just close AfD's more carefully next time, and I will leave some more difficult discussions to other, more experienced people. Thanks again! Oh, and maybe this is a bit... should I say... bad to ask, but what's the username of the voter you mentioned? It's fine if you can't tell me, just curious. // 🌶️Jalapeño🌶️ Don't click this link! 15:31, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

Hello. I am currently trying to find a way to make a small link taking someone to another language of Wikipedia. So something like this:

AfD closure

What criteria did you use to determine that there was no consensus in this discussion? I see a clear majority. Thoughts? @Theroadislong, DoubleGrazing, and Oaktree b: 𝙳𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚖𝚁𝚒𝚖𝚖𝚎𝚛 𝚍𝚒𝚜𝚌𝚞𝚜𝚜 02:09, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the ping, @DreamRimmer. Without wishing to re-litigate this, I do think the no consensus close was wrong, with three 'delete' !votes (plus the nom), and with neither of the two 'keeps' (as Barkeep points out) actually based on policy. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 04:30, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

@DoubleGrazing, @DreamRimmer and @Theroadislong, thank you for letting me know about this. I admit that it was a large mistake on my part. @Theroadislong, thanks for letting me know about the creator being a sockpuppeteer. I was not aware of this, so thank you for letting me know. I think you should reopen the discussion (and leave it for an admin to close), rather than relist it.
Also for future reference, you may want to gather some more experience before closing AfDs, esp. in borderline or contentious cases. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:56, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Jalapeño,

You closed a deletion discussion on this article and reverted your closure but you never checked to make sure that the article was still tagged with an AFD tag. It isn't. I think right now you lack the experience and maturity to close deletion discussions and relist discussions as this was not an appropriate AFD for a NAC to close.

Please spend more time presenting your arguments forward on whether an article should be Kept or Deleted (through your analysis of sources and knowledge of policy) and leave the administrative tasks to editors who have had years of experience participating in AFDs or admins. I'd like to see some evidence that you know how to evaluate an article's notability before you take on assessing deletion discussions. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:14, 24 June 2023 (UTC)

Hi Japaleño, sorry I only just noticed this, but I think it's important to point out that non-admins, especially those who are not experienced at AfD, are prohibited from closing discussions that are close or likely to be contentious, which this AfD certainly was. Your close statement also suggests you are not super familiar with notability guidelines (SIGCOV is part of GNG) or with how they intersect with policies like NOT. If I had seen your close at the time I would have requested you revert, but as it's been several months, I'm just going to ask that you change the outcome here to no consensus so that a future discussion on the topic remains possible. Thanks, JoelleJay (talk) 00:15, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

Just a question

Are you allowed to review your own AfC submissions? Not saying I'm gonna do that, but I'm just curious if that's allowed. 🔥Jalapeño🔥 Stupid stuff I did 06:50, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

It seems pointless. If you are a reviewer, you have permissions to create an article directly in article space without going through the AfC process.
I imagine someone would notice if you reviewed your own submission and, if they disagreed with the decision to accept an article, raise some questions. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:23, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
Though if I submit something in the draft that I didn't originally create and was moved from mainspace to draftspace, can I review that submission due to my reviewer privileges? 🔥Jalapeño🔥 Stupid stuff I did 07:24, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
This question is getting further into the hypothetical realm where I can't be sure if I'm answering the real question. Yes, reviewers can edit drafts to improve them and subsequently review them. A draftify action by another editor should be respected and not reflexively be undone, but technically there is no barrier to reviewing a draft that you have contributed to. But let's be clear. A "review" generally has two outcomes: accept or decline (we'll leave rejections out of this discussion for now). If you make improvements to a draft, then decline it, you haven't advanced the draft further towards acceptance than if you had simply made improvements and left a comment. If you were to accept a draft that you think is sufficiently promising and - subsequent to accepting it - made improvements, there is not much difference than if you had done these operations in the other order. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:37, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello! How you doing? It's very unfortunate that Nazran uprising failed GA nomination. Could you please show me where exactly are the issues (for example, grammar mistakes) that I should fix in the article? I'd be happy to fix them. November Articles for creation backlog drive

Hello Jalapeño:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 2700 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Association of Wikipedians Who Dislike Making Broad Judgments About the Worthiness of a General Category of Article, and Who Are in Favor of the Deletion of Some Particularly Bad Articles, but That Doesn't Mean They Are Deletionists for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Association of Wikipedians Who Dislike Making Broad Judgments About the Worthiness of a General Category of Article, and Who Are in Favor of the Deletion of Some Particularly Bad Articles, but That Doesn't Mean They Are Deletionists to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Bosniaks (flag)

Hello again. I would like to just mention that the Bosnian flag of lilies with a golden border is more commonly used nowadays in Bosnia and around the world by Bosniaks compared to the flag without the golden border. The flag is used by many people and organisations, which I have listed below:

https://www.sda.ba/vijest/vlada-fbih-ubrzanim-zaduzivanjem-ugrozava-ekonomsku-stabilnost-fbih/2308

https://balkaninsight.com/2018/09/26/bosnian-serb-describes-night-long-shooting-in-kravica-09-26-2018/

https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/hundreds-protest-ex-bosnia-commanders-war-crimes-charges/

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bosnian_flags_in_Sarajevo.jpg

https://www.dailysabah.com/politics/diplomacy/president-erdogan-commemorates-bosnias-alija-izetbegovic

https://index.ba/zeljko-komsic-necu-dozvoliti-da-mi-se-otima-komad-zemlje/

https://opcinabuzim.ba/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Zlatni-ljiljani-4.jpg

It is very rare to see the use of the flag without the golden border, especially nowadays. There is a similar situation to the flag of the ARBiH, in which I have very rarely seen the use of the flag without the golden border. As I stated on the ARBiH Wikipedia article, the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Corps of the ARBiH used the golden border. The picture of the female conscript in her uniform also has the golden border of the flag of lilies.

I understand your logic, but the flag without the golden border seems to have been more commonly used during the Yugoslav Wars (Washington Agreement main picture and File:Flag cemetery Mostar.JPG are examples of this).
Historical accuracy is what matters, not the modern-day accuracy, as this flag is no longer used by any legal government. I am pretty sure the golden border is more commonly used because of Wikipedia.
Also, the document detailing the flag doesn't mention any golden border, so there's that as well. 🔥Jalapeño🔥 Stupid stuff I did 09:29, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
I can see from your point of view as well, but I believe that Wikipedia's use of the golden border has had an almost negligible impact on the usage by the Bosniak people. For example, I would find it quite difficult to believe that the SDA, the largest Bosniak political party in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and an icon of Bosniak nationalism, would make such a mistake that they would use the wrong flag of the country that they had created. Even if the SDA had somehow (repeatedly) made such a major mistake in using the wrong flag of their own country, the use of the golden-bordered flag is still much more common among the Bosniak people. From this, and the evidences I provided in my initial comment, the flag on the Bosniaks article should use the golden-bordered version.
We must also keep in mind that the Bosnian flag with the golden border is not something which has just been created on Wikipedia, because there are photos of Alija Izetbegović (the first Bosnian president) with the coat of arms which contains the golden border:
https://www.sda.ba/stranica/alija-izetbegovic-biografija/53
https://5pillarsuk.com/2023/08/07/bosnia-herzegovina-marks-birthday-of-wartime-leader-alija-izetbegovic/
https://www.aa.com.tr/en/life/alija-izetbegovic-vision-was-a-moral-compass-for-life/2011861
https://sarajevotimes.com/the-20th-anniversary-of-the-death-of-alija-izetbegovic-was-marked-in-sarajevo/
So it seems the golden-bordered version was quite commonly used, especially by Izetbegović and his government.
Furthermore, it must also be noted that the use of the ARBiH logo without the golden border has been extremely rare, even during the war. The File:Flag cemetery in Mostar.JPG is one of the only times I have seen an ARBiH flag without the golden border. Even still, this ignores many instances where there is usage of the ARBiH flag with the golden border, such as in File:Bosnian flags in Sarajevo.jpg. Here are some evidences of use of the golden-bordered version:

A female conscript in Visoko in 1992
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgaPDpr-tug (this one is probably the most convincing evidence, as it is an video from ARBiH themselves. It is incredibly unlikely that they have made a mistake with their own logo)
Personally, I have found the use of the golden-bordered flag to be quite common during the war too, perhaps even more common than without the golden border. There are also plenty of videos which do contain the use of the flag of lilies (or just coat of arms) with the golden border, such as:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kwji5I6tXvg (at 0:36)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiKGvcOppO0 (You can just about see the coat of arms here with golden border on the official municipal building at 0:47)

The flag of lilies without the golden border in the Washington Agreement is a flag probably produced by the American government. It is not the same as the one typically used by the Bosnian government.
Many Bosnian and English sources describe Alija Izetbegović accepting a version of the flag with a golden border, after the colour of it had been changed from silver and the background colour of the flag from light blue to white.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was a very newly established country, and it could have been that due to the urgency of war, many of the flags were produced in a way which was not always faithful to the way the Bosnian government preferred. Some of them had different sized lilies, some had more rounded shields, some had different shades of blue, some without a golden border, etc.
To summarise, there is much more evidence for use of the golden border than without the golden border. Since it seems that the Bosnian government preferred the use of the coat of arms with a golden border, I will revert the changes on the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina to suit this. Likewise, for the flag or the ARBiH, I think it is most historically accurate to change it to the golden bordered version. This is because the overwhelming majority of places containing the ARBiH flag use the flag with the golden border. The flag of the Bosniaks should be the golden bordered version as this is typically what Bosniaks have used from the evidences that I have provided. StackOfBiscuits (talk) 21:31, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
