Mac Martin[edit]

The information that I had added to the Mac Martin wiki page was authorized by The Family of William Colleran, also known by his stage name: Mac Martin. Mr. William Colleran passed away this past Monday, February 28, 2022. The expansion of Mac Martin's wiki page was intended to be a tribute to his life and to his music career. The information that I had added to the Mac Martin wiki page was referenced to (1) the album Liner Notes that appeared on the back album cover of "Dixie Bound" which was released by The Dixie Travelers in 1974 under COUNTY RECORDS (County No. 743) and (2) a newspaper article that appeared in the PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE REVIEW: “Bluegrass star Mac Martin stayed local but achieved national fame”, Rex Rutkoski - staff writer, The Pittsburgh Tribune and Total Trib Live web site, September 12, 2015. Please consider reverting the undo edit that you have now done twice. Sincerely, CSwalin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CSwalin (talkcontribs) 19:08, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@CSwalin:, OR, you could maybe go and read WP:RS and understand why you just violated Wikipedia rules. Also, go see WP:NOTAMEMORIAL. Thanks! --Jkaharper (talk) 21:34, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please know that I am not meaning any disrespect to you or to Wikipedia by asking for you to reconsider your decision. The entries that I posted were factual in nature, and are able to be referenced by the Sept. 12, 2015, Pittsburgh Tribune Review newspaper article and by the the actual album liner notes that appeared on the back cover of the 1974 "Dixie Bound" album (I could provide a scanned copy of the album cover if you and your other Board Administrators would have a change of heart). My only intention of adding the entries to Mac Martin's Wiki-page was to let the "World" know about this man's contribution to Bluegrass history. And indeed his name is listed on a plaque at the The International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Ky. as one of the 250 most important artists in Bluegrass music history (the Pittsburgh Tribune Review article mentions this fact). @CSwalin:, when you add information to a biography on Wikipedia. It is YOUR responsibility to add referencing to all of it. You didn't do that, hence why I scrubbed the whole lot. As I said, familiarise yourself with WP:RS before making any more contributions. --Jkaharper (talk) 19:48, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Could you help[edit]

Hi – not sure about your process for updating the Deaths in 2022 page (do you have a bot that scrapes changes to the category page?). Would you be able to add John Duffy to the list for March? He died on 3 March 2022. I've already updated his page with the biographical info but I don't have the edit history yet to update the main list ☺. Gotta get myself auto-approved one day! Thanks, --514Charlie (talk) 13:29, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. No, I just do thorough searching on Google! Done. Thanks! --Jkaharper (talk) 13:35, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lord Falmouth[edit]

Thank you for your input and revert of Lord Falmouth, George Boscawen, the 9th Viscount Falmouth. I was searching to see if he were actually dead. It would be vandalism to falsely say he is dead but also to say he was alive if he were dead. Charliestalnaker (talk) 21:03, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No, it only works one way. It wouldn't be vandalism to say he is alive if he were indeed dead (but without a reliable source covered under WP:RS). The WP:BLP laws around biographies are very strict when it comes to subjects concerning information that could be deemed slander. You can't slander a dead person. --Jkaharper (talk) 22:02, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
