Ali Birra[edit]

Hello Jkaharper. I wanted to let you know why I reverted a portion of your recent edit at Ali Birra. Per MOS:REFPUNCT, where a footnote applies only to material within parentheses, the ref tags belong just before the closing parenthesis. This is an exception to the general rule that footnotes go after punctuation. Based on that, I moved the reference back to be prior to the closing parenthesis of the lead parenthetical. Let me know if you have any concerns about that or if you think MOS:REFPUNCT should not apply in this instance. – Archer1234 (talk) 15:13, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Archer1234:, thanks for this. I've moved it to the main body now, as references placed either inside or after the date brackets in the first sentence look sloppy either way. Thanks --Jkaharper (talk) 15:17, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm confused both by your response and your action in the article. Per MOS:REFPUNCT the ref goes inside the parentheses and yet, knowing this, you have moved it back out because it "look[s] sloppy". That is contrary to the MOS, which is the consensus of the community. You made a bold edit to move the ref out, I reverted your edit and left a note to explain and offered to discuss it further. Yet your reaction was to revert it back to how you think it should be instead of discussing it per WP:BRD. Have I got my facts wrong here? – Archer1234 (talk) 15:25, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm striking this as I misunderstood your action. My apologies. – Archer1234 (talk) 15:33, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! --Jkaharper (talk) 15:34, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Gloria Dea[edit]

On 9 November 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gloria Dea, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Hollywood Golden Age actress Gloria Dea was the first magician to perform on the Las Vegas Strip, at the El Rancho Vegas hotel and casino on May 14, 1941? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gloria Dea. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Gloria Dea), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Gloria Dea Shulem?[edit]

Moved to Talk:Gloria Dea#Gloria Dea Shulem?.

I originally put this question here because I though Jkaharper would write something like "Oh yeah, I ran across Gloria Dea Shulem in my research, and she's not related", or "she's a distant cousin" (cough), or even "I don't know who she is, but I know Gloria Dea was not in Burbank that decade, read these sources". But since it seems this is actually her, and since Jkaharper doesn't seem to be participating, I'm going to move this conversation to the article talk page because it seems likely very relevant to the article, and not that interesting to Jkaharper personally. --GRuban (talk) 01:32, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Desmond Decker and the Aces.[edit]

Hiya I see you cared enough to edit a page on the Aces a while back and while I am sure its mostly accurate. There is no mention of ‘The firestones’ who would eventually become the Uk aces when Desmond toured Europe.

There is some information on this knocking around, but more importantly I am very close to someone who was there and can prove that Desmonds Aces did indeed change over time.

I hope someone somewhere changes the page to reflect the full story.
