Please give citations[edit]

You added a DoB to Eamonn McCabe, with the edit summary "per Guardian obituary", but you did not add a citation to that obituary to the article.

In future, please add inline citations to such claims, as I have now done here. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:53, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Andy. I’ve been on here 16 years and I know the score. I was editing on my phone and I didn’t have time to write out the reference in full. I was going to add it in properly on my first day off (Sunday), but thank you for taking care of it. All the best --Jkaharper (talk) 19:15, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jkaharper, just saw your edits to Walter Buchanan (musician). Based on the father, brother, and location, this looks quite promising. Only thing odd is that you would think that the marriage notice would mention the father as a University President and not a real estate broker. Pinging @Connormah: as well. Hi @Canadian Paul: and @Connormah:, I was literally away to message both of you about this one. I'm satisfied that this is him based on the match of father, location and the brother's unusual forename. With regards to the father, I too found it curious that the newspaper didn't mention that he was a University President. However, he served in that role from 1909 to 1921. Dinah Washington and Walter Buchanan Jr. got married in 1950, so he had changed careers by this point. This newspaper clipping confirms this: "He resigned from the presidency in 1920 and opened a real estate business in Pittsburgh". As per Ancestry records, Walter Solomon Buchanan Jr. was born in Huntsville, Alabama on 26 June 1914 to Walter Solomon Buchanan Sr. and Ida Councill. He died in May 1988 (aged 73) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was also resident in Illinois around 1951 (note: his father died in a Chicago, Illinois hospital in 1954), and Dallas, Alabama in 1920, at which point his father was still Alabama A&M President. It all fits. Only question now is how do we put it into the article? --Jkaharper (talk) 10:14, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
